Tips and Warnings
- Unforeseen delays such as title transfer complications, changes/additions to the appraisal, scheduling conflicts, and other issues may delay the closing.
- Lenders may require a paper trail for money that has been deposited into your account. The paper trail will verify any reserve requirements the lender may have, gift funds from family members, or other liquid funds requirements. If the underwriter discovers an abnormal amount of money has been deposited into your account, the underwriter may want documentation to prove where it came from.
- When you go to sign your loan papers, bring your driver's license or some form of picture identification. You will most likely also need to bring money to settle your transaction. Make sure to ask your loan officer whether you will need a cashier's check or any other special requirements to complete the transaction.
- Please visit the “Do’s and Don’t’s” list in the Mortgage Resources section for more tips.
